A Miracle for Mommy
Monday morning, November 10, 1997 our son Paul phoned asking if he could take me somewhere for about an hour or so. Stephen was teaching devotions to the children and he agreed to take care of the children so I could go with Paul. We left in his car. (Note from Stephen: When Paul came to pick up Adria for the day, I thought perhaps they were going to get her hair done or something of that sort.)
Pulling up to a car dealership, he said, “Mom do you know why we are here?” I said, “No.” He said, “Well Mom, we are going to meet a man and then we are going to go to the Toyota dealership because there is someone who wants to buy you a brand new car!”
I said, “I don’t need a brand new car. A used car would be fine.” I started crying. “A brand new car?” “Yes, Mom a brand new car, they just want to know if you really want a big van or would a mini van be okay?” I answered, “No, whatever the Lord wants.” “Okay, then Mom, they have it all picked out and we will go and get it.”
We went to another dealership and Paul said, “Mom, there’s your car!” You know what it was? It was a 1998 Toyota Sienna minivan! It was absolutely beautiful. It had leather seats, a sun roof like Paul’s car. They say it has a Lexus V6 engine in it. It has front and rear heat and air conditioning, a CD player, a cassette player, alarm, cup holders, air bags, everything. Praise the wonderful name of Jesus! It’s like riding in a dream! I didn’t think I could even drive it home! But I did and now I have 184,000 miles on it. What a nice car it is. Can you imagine?!
One of the beautiful things about the car is that I had prayed specifically about something and how the Lord worked. Stephen kept saying that I needed a new car. I was busing 6 girls around in a little Toyota Tercel. So I thought, “Lord, I don’t know what kind of a car I should get. I would probably pick a lemon. So you just have Stephen or someone pick the car for me and I’ll just take what you think is best. I don’t know much about these things.” And that is just the way it happened. These people totally picked out the car and just said, ’Here it is. It’s yours!” God is so very good.
Of course all of the children were really flipped out about the car. “Mom, drive right up to the front and let us out so that everyone will see our new car!”

This car by 2004 had about 200,000 miles. It has been such a blessing to the ministry and has been from Florida to California carrying 7 people and our ministry equipment and personal belongings to preach the Gospel! In 2016 the car had 400,000 miles on the engine and was running great when the thermostat went out and did not warn us that the engine was getting hot! Needless to say the engine was then finished.....but it has a new engine now! We are so thankful for the Sienna! We have many memories and stories about that car!
