The Veil is Rent! It is Done!
We are so thankful for the finished work of Christ! Not by works...which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us.” Titus 3:5 “By grace are we saved through faith and that not of ourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works…”Ephesians 2:8,9 “This is the work of God that ye believe on him…..”John 6:29
What sets true Christianity apart from all other religions past, present, and future is two little letters “...NE” Yes, it is no longer (nor has it ever been) DO, DO, DO, but rather “it is DONE!”
It’s not what we do or don’t do that saves us. Rather, its what He has DONE! Jesus said on the cross it is finished! Those nails in his hands and feet became the final nail in Sin’s Coffin—forever buried and gone for all who believe! Micah 7:17,18 IT IS DONE! Rev 21:6; 16:17 Once and for all! Heb 10:10 “Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many…” “...one sacrifice for sins forever” Heb 10:12
Consider the amazing “Passover Lamb”
Moses instructed the people:
“Neither shall ye break a bone thereof Exodus 12:46
“… let nothing of it remain until the morning. Exodus 12:10
One hung on a tree was not to remain overnight. Deut 21:23
David tell us:
The Messiah would have no bone broken
“He keepeth al his bones, not one of them is broken” Psalm 34:20
So in John 19 while Jesus Christ our Passover Lamb I Cor 5:7 was completing his mission on Calvary’s Cruel Cross the Jews, to keep the Law, besought Pilate that the legs of them crucified might be broken and their bodies taken down.
“Then came the soldiers, and brake the legs of the first, and of the other which was crucified with him. But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead
already, they brake not his legs: But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.” John 19:32-34
The Lamb of God had no bone broken, but rather his side pierced as it was prophesied.
“In that day there shall be a fountain opened to the house of David…” Zech 13:1
“They shall look upon me whom they have pierced.” Zech 12:10
Jesus fulfilled the prophecies of the Passover Lamb:
“no bone was broken” Ps 34:20
“none left on the morrow” Ex 12:10
“side pierced and out flowed blood and water Zech 13:1
(that cleansing fountain and double cure)
Yet another noteworthy event is found in John 19.
“Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled said, ‘I Thirst’.” John 19:28-30
Where was that prophesied?
“...in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.” Ps 69:21
(1,000 years before this day of Calvary!)
The enemy of God’s Word had 1,000 years to insure no Vinegar was anywhere near the Cross of Christ that day—- but oh how powerless he is to withstand the Word of God!
“When Jesus had received the vinegar he said, ‘It is finished.’ and he bowed his head and gave up the ghost.” John 19:30
It is DONE, DONE, DONE!
The finished work of our Savior is what we trust in. Not some ongoing effort on our part to please God by good works and deeds—Never! It is finished—Done—once for all! Heb 10:10
At that very moment in the Jewish temple at Jerusalem the Passover lamb was being killed at the hands of the Priest—yet outside the city, between two thieves, the very Son of God was fulfilling dozens of prophecies thus confirming himself the real Passover lamb and to signify its fulfillment the Veil of the Temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom. Not from the bottom up, that would be by the hand of man—but rather “from the top to the bottom.” Rent forever by the hands of Almighty God that our glorious God and Savior Jesus Christ by the Powerful Holy Spirit could come out from behind the curtain and go “outside the box” into all the world for whosoever will. Hallelujah!
“And behold the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake and the rocks rent…” Mt 27:51
Remember, “The Veil is Rent in twain from the top to the bottom.” There is no more need for a priest, pastor or teacher to go to God for us, but now we can enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus ourselves—a new and living way. Heb 10:20
Oh, how man made religions have tried to sew the veil back together once again and set up the old covenant symbols that we may keep God in our little corner… But no, look closer at all those shredded threads of man’s attempts at sewing up the rent Veil. They blow and dangle in the breeze of God’s awesome holiness a mere reminder of man’s futility in trying to save himself.
The Veil is Rent— forever, never to be sewed again. Rejoice! God is on the loose by the Power of the Holy Ghost. It is DONE!
“I know that, whatsoever God doeth it shall be forever: nothing can be put to it, nor anything taken from it: and God doeth it that men should fear before him.” Ecc 3:14
“A new and living way”, not the letter of the law that kills, but the Spirit that gives life! Jesus said, “I am the way… no man comes to the Father, but by me! John 14:6 “Neither is there salvation in any other name under heaven given amongst men whereby we must be saved! Acts 4:12 JESUS!
CHRIST ALONE = SALVATION
Not only is the Veil rent, but the tomb is empty! He finished His work. May we allow the Author and Finisher to complete his work in us to the end! Amen!
