First Newsletter in a year!

1/7/2017

We hope you will check out the newsletter tab and read the latest newsletter!  2016 was very busy with Stephen's recovery and the local ministry and we just didn't do a newsletter!  But we did upload a lot of new videos to You Tube so we hope you will go to our You Tube channel also and see what's new.  The January 2017 newsletter summarizes what we did in 2016.

We sure appreciate all of our friends and supporters and those of you who have been praying for us!  Stephen reminded us today that when we came back to America in 1981 the Lord told us that "Behold, I and the children whom the LORD hath given me are for signs and for WONDERS in Israel from the LORD of hosts, which dwelleth in mount Zion." Isaiah 8:18

Wow!   WONDERS!  And we look back at all the Lord has done and it is a wonder to us too!

Psalm 71:7 says, "I am as a WONDER unto many; but thou art my strong refuge.  We are still a WONDER to many and even to ourselves!  It's only Jesus!

We pray you have a Blessed 2017!

Adria

Stephen with Dr Iyer

Hi There!

4/18/2016

Well, we haven't really kept up with this blog as you can see!  So much to do and too much happening!  We are still alive and well by God's grace and mercy!

In the beginning of October 2015 Stephen collapsed as we later learned when his spleen ruptured.  He had emergency surgery and came out in critical condition.  He was later diagnosed with lymphoma.  We were so surrounded by love and prayer!  It was very touching!  People came from near and far to show their love and support.  People selflessly donated supplements that they felt would help.  One man drove all the way from San Antonio to install a water purifier in our kitchen.

Stephen was very weak but he gradually regained strength!  The Lord was touching him.  So many prayers were answered.  On March 28, 2016 he had a pet scan to see how the cancer was healing and the doctor said, "Your pet scan is Negative!"  No cancer!  All Praise and glory to God!  Thank you so much for your prayers, love and support!

We are praying and working on building up his immune system and spending time working on our many archives rather than running around!  We have so many testimonies and miracles that we need to record, edit and try to finalize.  We know they will be a blessing to many of God's faithfulness.  We just put up a new article on the testimonies tab.  It's called, "Could You Do That Again?"  It's the story of Miracle Rose's birth!

So until we return to this blog.....love and blessings to all!  Thank you for praying!  God answers prayer and Jesus still heals!

When Stephen prayed and asked the Lord for a scripture before his last pet scan, he opened his Bible and his eyes fell on this verse:  Philippians 2:27  "For indeed he was sick nigh unto death:  but God had mercy on him; and not on him only, but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow."
(I claimed the last part of that verse!)

You haven’t heard from us in a while as there has been a lot of ministry demands the past weeks.

The 10 days prior to Thanksgiving  we ministered daily somewhere. What a joy and privilege to be in demand somewhere, we all need to be needed!

Let me summarize our schedule:

Sunday (the first day of the week) Adria and I both head out to minister in two different churches. She  goes  north to a Korean Church and I pull out about the same time headed south to a Chinese Church. We meet up again after lunch (both Churches serve a lunch and have fellowship after service)I must say I miss the kimchi  yet I am getting to like the Chinese fare once again. It has been about 20 years since we first started with the Chinese ministry. It is a joy to once again be amongst such sweet Asian believers. If you go to our web site www.heatclub.com  under Newsletters you will find a story about our first trip to Asia 1992.  What an amazing story.  Check it out.

Sunday night we pick up Panera bread. Once a week we make a 30 mile round trip to receive loads of bread, bagels, and pastries. Then on Monday morning ,after taking Miracle to school,we begin our delivery route.Ha!  Everyone likes the pastries and sliced bread but sometimes its hard to give out all the bagels. We pass it around to 3 different schools and some restoration ministries as well as to some needy families and single parent families. It is always lots of fun and you never know how much of what you will have.

Monday evening we find time to type some things like this…sometimes!

TUESDAY : We prepare for Cornerstone. This is a wonderful ministry that buses in scores of kids from local apt. in the area. We volunteer for the 3rd and 4th grade class which has become the fastest growing class. Adria’s powerful power point  teaching and Hillsong dances have made quite an impact on these kids.  We love connecting with these kids in the Lord  even though it   can be challenging at times like a few weeks ago while playing  soccer prior to Bible study, there was a fist fight between two boys. The Bible lesson on Cain and Abel was special that night.

WEDNESDAY  Twice a month we set up for an hour and ½ to two hour program. We have been doing these two schools now for several years and these kids are really on fire for the Lord.  We use puppets, power points, games and action songs to teach the Word.  You oughta see these two young seniors jumping and dancing to those up-beat songs! Some of these kids are earning their badges as well.

THURSDAY :We have begun practicing for the 2014-2015 Bible Bowl competition now ,so each Thursday morning we have anywhere from 12 to 24 students studying the questions.  You can hear the game on KHCB radio 105.7 FM Houston, or on the internet at 9:30 every Saturday.  You will probably hear John and Miracle answer many of the questions as they were Bible Bowl champs during their days. (they play older programs from time to time)

Also Thursday AM we go to pick up frozen food from a local restaurant. They freeze whatever is not served and donate it to ministries. It is such a nice gesture that more and more businesses  are doing something to help alleviate hunger in the city.  If one had the time and the transport it could be a full time ministry; picking up bread and frozen food and passing it out.

Also on Thursday once a month we join a team of singers to help bring cheer to the elderly at a local nursing home. We have been blessed to do this for some years now and never fail to receive a blessing each time we go. If you are looking  for a place to practice your ministry let me suggest this is a good place to start. Bring your children along it will do them good to see some real needs and they will cheer up the most lonely heart. Mt. 25:40 &Mt. 10:42

FRIDAY We prepare for the evening Bible study for the youth at Adria’s  Church. A handful of teens gather to sing praises to the Lord and share His Word in fellowship. These young Korean “soldiers” really inspire you to greater service in the Lord. They have overcome many obstacles to excel as they do in their schools. They enjoy playing their instruments and singing together and are not ashamed to witness their faith to their friends. They are an inspiration to me their teacher!

Then comes the last day of the week Saturday:  If it is not the day of the month we help with the Park Outreach to the local migrant workers , and if it is not 100*F with 90% humidity, you may find my dear wife and I on a bike ride together. Most often a bicycle not a motorcycle, though occasionally we do borrow a friends Yamaha and go for an occasional cruise in the country. We visit a friends Castle in Belleville. Yes you heard right a full blown castle… just go to www.newmanscastle.com  you will see what  I mean. A picture is woth a thousand words.

Then Saturday night we prepare for Sunday morning ministry and start the week over again..unless….

Then there is a holiday like THANKSGIVING!

This year we had a wonderful time together with aaaaaaaaalllllllllllllllll the family!  WOW all 34 of us!

We have a family tradition that we alternate between Christmas and Thanksgiving  for our family get together. This year was our year for Thanksgiving! Thanks to our eldest daughter, Regina’s efforts, we were able to all come together in South Texas for a couple of days of fun, fellowship and food…lots of all three

What a joy to see Aaron and his sweet wife Michelle from Wisconsin carrying their first child. They even shared the name they have chosen for the baby, Riley! After Aaron’s grandpa Riley! You should see some of the amazing dance contests Aaron has performed at.. amazing talent see him on Aaron Ferguson on you-tube.

Then there was Laila, our little flower- girl from San Francisco. So wonderful to see her cheerful face.  She has a new job in S.F. and just loves that place.  Thank  you for making the effort to be there,we love you and miss you.

Another of our daughters who came from San Francisco was Melody. She too has been blessed with a new job and challenge. She is in on the ground floor of a fast paced and rapidly growing small business besides her own business  of Wedding and Party planning and catering. She is one busy woman and loves it so...Thank you Mel for making the effort and expense to join us all.

There was our dear Amy Grace Archer and her husband Brandon with dear little JUDE STEPHEN. JUDE was born on Amy’s Birthday one and a half  years ago. They came all the way from Florida. We are so very glad to see them once again. We need to get Jude a little guitar for his next birthday! That boy can play and sing.

It is getting late now and  I am making more mistakes with the typing so I must quit. For the time would fail me to tell of Paul and Laura and their 4, Phillip, Timothy,Karen Joy and their little David. Then there was sweet Mary Ruth and her two Kailynn and Corah Mae…Evie Dawn and Luke…Gina and Armin…Faith and Kyle with their two little blessings Mabel Jean and Edie Raey…then came Mercy and Duc from Houston…and Little JOHN now turned BIG JOHN finishing his first semester at Texas State…my how he has grown in every way. And we mustn’t forget precious Miracle Rose age 15,  our last baby at home.

And we want to welcome two newcomers to the clan Steve and Andrew.  It’s not easy breaking into this FERGUSON CLAN but WELCOME,WELCOME !

Perhaps the most blessed among us was Mom and Dad. Not many can boast of such wonderful children and spouses and children. We are always amazed and humbled at how The Lord has blessed us and given us an heritage we could never imagined! Psalm 128 says it all.” Blessed is everyone that feareth the Lord; that walketh in his ways.  For thou shalt eat the labour of thine hands: happy shalt thou be,and it shall be well with thee. Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the sides of thine house:  thy children like olive plants round about thy table.  Behold, that thus shall the man be blessed that feareth the Lord. The Lord shall bless thee out of Zion; and thou shalt see the good of Jerusalem all the days of thy life. Yea, thou shalt see thy children’s children, and peace upon Israel (thy family)

Enjoy the photos ….until next time  “brethren, pray for us” 1Thes. 5:25

And we mustn’t forget that good morning tune the Lord gave to Kailynn, me and Corah Mae put together and Mabel made famous… How does it go?

Fun time today doing a chapel at Central Christian Academy.  Action Songs, Puppets, Object Lesson, Scripture Scramble and a power point Bible lesson on the Two Houses from Matthew 7:24-27
The kids really enjoyed doing the Scripture Scramble, "Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away."  Matthew 24:35  As quite a few competed our final winner put the scripture in order in 15 seconds!  Good Job!  The Scripture Scramble record to beat is 6 seconds!!

We are encouraging the kids to learn Psalm 23.  We had four boys come up and "almost" get their Psalm 23 badge yesterday!  We gave them the flyer with Psalm 23 in it and gave the badges to their teacher to give to them when they know it well!  We want them to know it so well that they will never forget it!
Psalm 23 is such a wonderful chapter from the Word of God!  We recently found this in a book called, "Leaves of Gold" first printed in 1938

WANT--"The Lord is my shepherd:   I shall not want."
REST-- I shall not want rest. "He maketh me to lie down in green pastures."
DRINK--I shall not want drink.  "He leadeth me beside the still waters."
FORGIVENESS--I shall not want forgiveness. "He restoreth my soul."
GUIDANCE--I shall not want guidance. "He leadeth me in the path of righteousness for His            name's  sake."
COMPANIONSHIP--I shall not want companionship.  "Yea, thought I walk through the valley of the shadow of death.  I will fear no evil:  for Thou art with me."
COMFORT--I shall not want comfort. "Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me.
FOOD--I shall not want food.  "Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies."
JOY--I shall not want joy.  "Thou anointest my head with oil."
ANYTHING--I shall not want anything.   "My cup runneth over."
ANYTHING IN THIS LIFE--I shall not want anything in this life.  "Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life."
ANYTHING IN ETERNITY--I shall not want anything in eternity. "And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever."  ---(no author given just says "Selected")

Pictured above Stephen is doing the coloring sheet with the kids.  We had about 15 kids.  All was calm and going well until we went down to play a little soccer before class.  Stephen heard one of the girls say, "Hey, stop that!"  To his surprise a couple of the boys were in an all out fight!  Stephen pulled them apart and then they were taken to the policeman and the staff.  When the kids returned to the classroom we had a great class!  They are learning verses and saying them with us.  We had two combined lessons so we had to cover a lot of territory, from Moses born and called to the 9 Plagues in Egypt, but the kids were attentive as we shared the power point with  Adria dramatizing the story!

4 Sunday Services

10/19/2014

This is the place where Adria and I part ways!  Ha!

She goes north of Houston to minister to her children and youth at a Korean church and I, Stephen, head  South to do the same at a Chinese church.  What a joy and privilege to bring God’s Word to these precious people.

So from Sunday to Sunday this past week Oct.12 to 19  we have ministered 14 services in 7 different locations. It has been a busy week for which we are very thankful to Jesus for strength, health and unction to continue…. Til next  time.

“Now also when I am old and gray headed, O God, forsake me not; until I have  shewed thy strength unto this generation, and thy power to everyone that is to come.” Psalm  71:18

From Adria:  Stephen has been doing great getting his typing skills back and learning to use a computer!!  He typed all of the blog and I posted it with pictures!

I personally have been so blessed teaching the kids recently with power points!  The curriculum I have been working with, Gospel Project, has been a blessing to me as well as for the children.  It brings Jesus and the Gospel into every lesson.  We also are helping the kids and teens we minister to learn the badges!  What a joy to hear them quote scriptures!!

Also it is a joy to answer the mail and send out badges and prizes!!  Keep those letters coming!

"Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away."  Matthew 24:35

Park Outreach

10/18/2014

Picture
Today was out monthly volunteer effort in the local park where scores of immigrants  gather waiting and hoping for work. We join with a local Korean church   who have been doing  this for several years. They invite a local  Hispanic church to come and sing and preach to them just before feeding them a nice hot meal complete with a drink and  dessert and always a banana to go.

Some of these “park people “ have become good friends and most of all Christian!  The Latin culture for the most part still respects Jesus and the Bible. It’s wonderful when they come to trust Him for everything, future, funds and all.

Teen Ministry

10/17/2014

"God's Not Dead"
Stephen has a group of teens he ministers to each Friday night and tonight we finished viewing “God’s Not Dead.”  We had a discussion afterward and all of the students said it was one of the best films they had ever seen.  If you have not seen it please do so.  A  great movie for teens and all.

Retirement Home Ministry

Today  we joined forces with a local Korean ministry that does a monthly outreach to nursing homes in the Houston area. We usually have a struggle getting off, but are always so glad when we get there. We often wonder who has the biggest blessing , them or us?

What a joy to sing and share the Gospel with the elderly.  One gentleman we met there was turning  99 next month!  He was so happy he had “stumbled” onto the program he had not planned to attend. He had a big smile and was getting around on his own. “With long life will I satisfy you and shew you my salvation.”(Psalm 91:16)

Ms. Adria blessed us all with her powerful  rendition  of “Strength in the Lord”, followed by her little puppet object lesson of “Taddy” the tadpole and “Caddy” the caterpillar . Lastly, her testimony Cinderella  doll.  Some of you may not know it but Adria  lost her mother at age 11. Her Dad  remarried a rather “tough” lady who had two daughters and from that point on Adria’s life became one of “Cinderella”.  She uses this doll to demonstrate how God can change not only your life but your  heritage as  well.  It always touches hearts whenever she shares her story.
