We just returned from a trip over the Labor Day weekend. Since our Sienna car has almost 390,000 miles we rented a car for the trip. We drove to Austin on Friday afternoon as there was a dinner planned with all of our kids that could come. Stephen was greatly and pleasantly surprised when Melody appeared as a waitress at our family dinner! She flew in from San Francisco and wanted to surprise her Dad. It was hard, but we kept it a secret and he was so shocked to see her in Austin! We got to spend time with family Friday and Saturday and then drove to San Antonio on Saturday evening to have our yearly board meeting with our friends Nicolas and Sharon. On Sunday morning we visited John Hagee's church and we were greatly blessed by the music and a great message on "How to Survive the Storm".
Sunday afternoon during lunch we shared some of our experiences as we have prayed, "Jesus put it in our heart to do your will," like looking for horses to ride and finding Rick and Laura and never going horseback riding! That's a wonderful story on it's own.
Our rental car was due to be returned on Tuesday around noon. We didn't use the car Monday as we had a send off breakfast with Melody and one of her friends, and then just worked around the house. So before we had to return the car on Tuesday we decided to take a ride in the country and then return the car. We decided to go to Newman's Bakery and have a bite and then return the car. As we were ordering we turned and to our great surprise there was Stephen's brother Gary eating with his 10 year old grandson!! We were so happy as we had wanted to see him! He had driven from Houston about the same time as we had! It was as if we had an appointment to meet for breakfast in Bellville! We got to eat breakfast with the two of them and fellowship and then we were off to return the car and he was off to spend a day out with his grandson first to the Castle in Bellville, then the Blue Bell Creamery and then to play some golf. What a blessing to led the Lord lead and guide us!

Tonight we started our first ministry to the inner city kids called Cornerstone. They are expanding and have the use of some new facilities. The lesson tonight was on "God Alone". We had recorded a skit we found in the New Tribes Mission Workbook for kids and used it as a puppet show. So at the last moment we got the idea to film it here at the house. Then we wouldn't have to take the puppet stage and puppets. Stephen filmed it and put it on DVD and we ran out the door. The kids really liked it! Yay! We would like to do more of those! We had a good ministry on the difference between God and Man. God need nothing, God is everywhere, God had no beginning and has no end, God is holy etc... Man needs everything, Man can only be in one place at a time, Man is born and dies, Man is a sinner etc... Through this lesson one thing they learn is the difference and that we are not God and we need God! We had a good group of kids!
